South Asian Languages and Culture

The Department of Jewish, Islamic and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures offers a minor in Hindi (South Asian Language and Culture).

In the fall of 1999, for the first time Hindi language instruction became a part of the rich array of Languages and Literature Courses offered in the Department of Asian and Near Eastern Languages and Literatures. This program focuses on the development of skills such as speaking, listening-comprehension, reading-writing, and the communication-exchange of abstract ideas. In addition to the speaking and listening-comprehension skill acquisition, emphasis is placed on acquiring basic literacy skills as well.
